If you run into trouble (page stuck, things aren't updating/saving, or an error message),
try these steps in order.
-
Refresh the page.
On mobile, drag down from the top of the screen. On desktop, try Ctrl + F5.
Sometimes a session has timed out and it's not obvious — refreshing will trigger an automatic re-login.
-
Close the browser and re-open.
When we update the site, it can invalidate existing sessions and trigger temporary errors (e.g. ViewState errors).
-
Log out and log back in.
This creates a fresh session and ensures all required session variables are set correctly.
-
Clear your browser cache.
This forces your browser to download the newest files (scripts/styles) instead of using older cached copies, which may be out-of-date or corrupt.
-
Clear qFIT cookies (optional).
This usually isn't needed, but can clear out a broken piece of browser state. You stay
signed in, and your saved settings (theme, font size, Checklist filters) live on your
account, not in cookies — but this browser is treated as new afterwards, so your
next login may re-ask for the emailed verification code.
-
Try Incognito / Private Browsing.
This runs with a clean cookie/cache state without permanently changing your normal browser profile.
-
Try a different browser or device.
This helps rule out a browser-specific setting, extension, or cached file causing the issue.

🛠️ Why the Order Matters
The steps run from least to most disruptive — each one throws away a little more saved state than the one before. Starting at step 1 costs you nothing; starting at step 5 costs you your saved view options for no reason.
A plain refresh fixes more than you'd expect: your login ticket stays valid for a full year, and qFIT rebuilds a lost or timed-out session from it before the page renders — no password, no visible login step. That's why "it just started working again" is the most common outcome of step 1.
🍪 What the Two Buttons Really Do
× Clear Cookies (step 5) deliberately skips the four cookies that keep you signed in — the session, the login ticket, the remember-me token, and the security stamp. Only preference cookies go, so you stay signed in and lose nothing but saved view options (like your Checklist filters) in this browser.
Logout (step 3) is the stronger reset — but it also revokes this device's remember-me token, so the silent auto-login won't bring you back in: you'll sign in again yourself. Make sure you know your credentials before you click it.
